How did you hear about Core10?

I was graduating from Nashville Software School when I first heard about Core10. They were interviewing students for potential development positions. Once I heard more about Core10 from the leadership and learned their purpose/mission, I knew it was the kind of company that I wanted to work for.

What did you do before joining the team?

After graduating undergrad at UT Knoxville, I worked for a travel company in Nashville that plans trips for groups all over the world. During that time, I worked in accounting and project management while also leading an overhaul of the existing booking and payment systems used by the company. This experience led me to want to learn more about the technical side of software development. I was also able to travel to four different continents while in that position, which was a blast!

What got you interested in a career in software development?

I have always been interested in learning how and why computers work. However, my experience leading the development of new booking and payment systems for my employer after undergrad was what inspired me to try my hand at a career in software development. I really enjoy the problem-solving process and creating technology that makes people’s lives easier.

What is your favorite project you have worked on at Core10?

My favorite project so far has probably been working on a mobile credit card application for one of our banking clients. I always enjoy working on projects where we are able to simplify a complex process for the user and increase value for the organization.

What’s going on in your life outside Core10?

I’ve lived in the Nashville area since I was three years old, so I am lucky enough to be surrounded by many friends and family. In my spare time I enjoy being outside as much as possible doing various activities. I also volunteer around town through several organizations. I’ve started to pick up golf with a few buddies over the past year, but that is a definite work in progress.

Why did you choose to stay here?

I’ve always considered Nashville as a great place to grow up, but it is also a fantastic place to live and grow a career. There are not many towns that are able to foster the kind of excitement and energy that Nashville has, while also retaining a special small-town feel. It has been really great to see the city evolve over time, and I look forward to seeing it continue in the future.
