It’s not every day that you meet someone with a deep passion for technology, strong customer-facing skills, and is an excellent team player. However, at Core10, we are lucky to find these individuals sitting at the desk next to us (the office desk or remote desk).
Core10 is proud to hire the best talent from West Virginia, Tennessee, and surrounding states. We like to brag about our team members because they deserve it. This month we want to take some time to brag about Kevin Hall.
Kevin Hall is a Core10 Senior Software Architect based in Nashville, TN. He has been with us for three years and has become a critical team member who drives client success.
“Kevin is a highly valuable team member. He is able to reason through complex logic to find a solution that not only works today but allows us to scale for tomorrow. He’s extremely knowledgeable and a major asset to Core10.”
-Joel Legg, Engineering Manager
Take some time to learn more about Kevin. We’re certain you’ll see his passion for technology and what a talented team member he is. Read on to learn more about Kevin.
I am a Senior Software Architect. During the NavigatorMD project, I was responsible for capturing software constraints, quality attributes, and functional requirements. I also modeled the architectural patterns we used, set up the CI/CD pipelines and Kubernetes clusters. Developing several key software components like the ETL and user microservice that handled the authorization and authentication features was a focus of my work.
Three years this December! It feels much shorter than that. Time flies when you enjoy your work.
Coincidence? I drove by the Franklin office one day as I was driving toward the Mall on Bakers Bridge and was curious. I was looking for an opportunity where I could have a greater impact and grow as an engineer.
Empowering small communities to keep and employ their citizens and to help community banks compete with larger ones are interests of mine.
I have been blessed and am thankful for my previous employers. I served in various roles at Remington Arms, Lowes, IBM, Ingersoll-Rand, and SRA. The five years previous to joining the team here, I worked for Idemia where I helped develop, release and maintain their TSA PreCheck website and systems. Before that, I worked at Virginia Tech for three years where we modeled pandemics like H1N1 on their supercomputers.
I attended and obtained a bachelor of science in computer science degree from Radford University, just miles across the New River where I grew up in the Appalachian mountains.
As part of the Computer Science program, I studied computer architecture, compilers, algorithms, databases, graphics, and discrete mathematics. The concepts taught in those classes are still invaluable to me in understanding software and computer systems.
I have been coding software since I was sixteen. My parents bought me a Commodore 64 computer for Christmas, and it inspired me with its graphics and sound chips. During college, I discovered IBMs flavor of UNIX (AIX) and spent quite a bit of time reading the man pages especially as it related to Internet socket programming. That was all it took to hook me into a lifetime of developing solutions in computing.
One of my favorite projects with Core10 was a short SOC2 compliance auditing project that we did for Posh in Boston, MA. Their system is a multi-tenant architecture for hosting chatbots deployed across multiple channels. Users call up and interact over the phone with a computer on the other end with a more intelligent automated menuing system. I enjoyed the travel, the people, and the tech stack.
My wife and I have three kids and one Labrador Retriever named Hazel (she is an endless source of entertainment and humor). We are involved in sporting activities, school activities, and are involved in worship services each week.
I grew up with a black and white television and didn't know what color Gilligan's shirt was until much later in life.
The greater Nashville area is a great place to work, live, and have fun. We are on the edge of town and appreciate the farmland around us, but we are very close to shopping and other conveniences. Our community still maintains a smaller, close-knit, feel with lots of families and children. A couple of miles to the west lies the Civil War battlefield where several monuments have been erected. It's a place like no other in the world.
