If you ask any new college grad about starting their first full-time job, they will most likely say it is an experience met with nerves, uncertainty, and excitement. We get it! These recent grads have just spent the last 16+ years in school and are now beginning a completely new and unfamiliar chapter in their lives. When hiring new grads, we’d be remiss if we did not acknowledge these feelings.
Take, for example, one of our Implementation Analysts, Mo Coley, who recently graduated and launched his career at Core10. He says he was “nervous to take on the challenges that a full-time position would pose after spending four years in school.”
Despite these nerves, Mo has already superseded expectations and has become a valuable member of our team in just a few months.
“Mo has joined the Core10 team and made an immediate impact. He has quickly taken a full load of projects and is able to handle anything that is thrown at him! We can't wait to see how he continues to develop at Core10.”
-Anthony Alexander, Implementation Manager
This month, we are delighted to highlight Mo and the education, experiences, and talents he brings to the team. Continue reading to learn more about Mo!
I work as an Implementation Analyst on the DealCloud team.
I started with Core10 this year in May.
I found out about Core10 through a ZipRecruiter job posting.
I have a strong interest in and passion for data analytics. I decided to search for entry-level economic analyst positions and found Core10. Everyone I interacted with during the hiring process was very friendly and ready to listen. This persuaded me to work here. Workplace culture was something I really cared about during my job search, and Core10 seemed like a great option.
This is my first full-time position, as I graduated from Milligan University just a few days before joining Core10. I previously worked part-time in a few different jobs that included carpet cleaning as well as working as a runner at a law firm.
I attended Milligan University in Johnson City, Tennessee.
I studied economics, political science, mathematics and humanities during my time in undergrad.
Econometrics is a senior course for economics majors, and it revolves around capturing data and developing mathematical models for analysis. I took the course during my final semester. I was deeply intrigued by the philosophy behind economic analysis as well as its approach to data, which led me to pursue a career that would allow me to more deeply explore the potential of data analysis.
The most interesting project I’ve worked on so far has been site design for an investment bank that specializes in car wash sales and acquisitions. Their specialization meant that I needed to build out a site that could capture both historical financial metrics and geographic trends in their industry. I’m hoping to have more clients in the future will similarly unique needs in data tracking in the future.
I spend my free time working out, playing board games and video games, as well as reading. Otherwise, I spend a lot of time with friends and family, deepening the relationships I have in Johnson City.
I am an active member of my local church, and work in the children’s area on Sunday mornings.
I grew up overseas. My family was based in Thailand just outside of Bangkok at Thammasat University, where my parents had a ministry for university students. My time overseas was a unique opportunity I had early on in life to deepen my worldview through living and experiencing another culture from a young age.
Johnson City is tucked away in the Appalachian Mountains in the northeast corner of Tennessee. It is rapidly growing and has a promising future. The challenges of urban development in such a topographically variable place makes it an interesting city to see grow at the rate that it has over the past few years.
My family lived in Johnson City until the start of 2020, and I decided to remain here due to the strength of friendships and community that I have in the area. My grandparents still live here, so I get to have a close relationship with them while also staying in contact with my family in Indiana. Additionally, the area is beautiful and hiking is accessible and rewarding because of the natural beauty that the Appalachian mountain range offers.
As a recent graduate, I was nervous to take on the challenges that a full-time position would pose after spending four years in school. My team at Core10 has been so welcoming and helpful, though, that I’ve been able to jump straight in and am delighted to say that I’ve loved the experience to date. I’m very grateful for the opportunities I’ve had since graduation earlier this year, and look forward to what the future holds for me both at Core10 and in life in general.
