This month, we are highlighting Roberto Sousa, better known by our team as Beto. Beto’s Hereshore® story is one that we love. Only a few years ago did Beto move from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Nashville, TN, and joined our team. We are grateful that Beto’s journey led him to find a place within our Core10 team and live and work in the place he calls home.
Clay McKinney, Developer Manager, says it best. “Beto is friendly, professional, humble, and extremely skilled and knowledgeable. He is a joy to work with."
This could not be even more true. So in honor of our terrifically talented team member, Beto, take a few minutes to dive into his employee spotlight. We hope you enjoy it!

Through a friend that worked with us
I had recently migrated to the US and my first impression of Core10 was a welcoming and friendly atmosphere where I could develop my skills without losing my life balance. I wasn’t wrong about this. It has been the same environment since then.
I’ve been coding since I was 16 years old.
The name is “UniverCidade”. It’s the short name for University of Rio de Janeiro City in my hometown Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Bachelor’s in Computer Science
It was a natural path for me. I got a partial job when I was 15 years old at a big oil company called Petrobras in my hometown and eventually, they hired me as a full-time contractor. I worked there for 7 years.
I had the opportunity of working in many of the company’s departments like HR, archives, insurance, finances, etc., but I ended up finding myself in the IT department. Now here I am.
All of them? All projects have offered me opportunities to grow and learn.
I live with my partner, and we have an 8 years old dog called Oreo that I brought from Brazil. I got him when he was 4 months old. I also have a 4 years old tabby cat called Kevin and a fish tank.
Among my hobbies are traveling, kayaking, hiking, cooking, video games, etc. I love being outdoors and visiting new places, learning about new cultures and languages.
I support a group in my hometown that helps young people without resources to learn how to code and become developers.
That I also have a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition Science.
The musicians, the climate, and the people we find here are all things I enjoy about Nashville.
I have longtime friends that live here, and because it is easy to travel everywhere from Nashville.
